How to Block Adult Content on Every Device at Once

Most advice about blocking adult content sends you device by device: an app on this phone, settings on that tablet, an extension on the browser. It's exhausting, easy to miss one, and everything you install can be uninstalled.

There's a cleaner way, and it's how businesses have handled this for decades: filter at the network. One change, at the router, covers every device on your Wi-Fi — current and future.

The 3-step setup

First, sign up with a DNS filtering service that maintains adult-content categories (VeeShield's Home plan enables them by default, along with gambling, violence, and malware). Second, open your router's admin page and change its DNS servers to the service's resolvers — our per-brand guides show exactly where the setting lives for Netgear, TP-Link, ASUS, eero, and the rest. Third, run a quick check to confirm blocking is active.

Total time is about five minutes, and there's genuinely nothing to install on any device.

Close the side doors too

Two things defeat naive filters: search engines (explicit results render inside google.com, which no domain filter blocks) and VPN apps that tunnel around your network. Good DNS filtering handles both — enforcing Safe Search on Google, Bing, and YouTube at the network level, and blocking VPN and proxy services as their own category.

Also change your router's admin password while you're in there. The filter is only as strong as the lock on its settings.

What about phones on cellular data?

Wi-Fi filtering covers the home. For a child's phone on mobile data, add the device-level layer: iOS Screen Time and Android Family Link both restrict content on cellular, and business-grade services offer roaming agents that keep the same DNS filter active on any network. Belt and suspenders.

One setup covers all of this.

VeeShield filters every device on your network — consoles included — with nothing to install and nothing your kids can uninstall.
